AutoPilot JMX Sensors

AutoPilot JMX Sensor is a JMX property, value of which is persisted by AutoPilot for anytime analysis. That particular WebLogic instance need not be running or alive at the time of analysis. AutoPilot ensures minimal overhead and uses extremely efficient mechanism for persisting AutoPilot Sensors data. Although Arcturus recommends creating sensors wisely and evaluating the impact on your environment.

Create Sensors

To access the Creating JMX Sensors screen, select AutoPilot WL > Custom JMX Analyzer > Create Sensors.  The tree structure on this screen can be expanded to display the MBeans and its properties.  You can select the Sensor check box to create a sensor on a particular MBean property. This is illustrated below:

This tree shows:

  1. To create a sensor, click on a server name, an MBean type, and an MBean name to display the MBean's properties in the right side of the screen.
  2. Check the box next to the value of the MBean's property value on which you want to create a sensor. This sensor will be saved and will be monitored by AutoPilot when the server is restarted.

AutoPilot Agent (deployed as startup class) should be running on the server for it to save sensors data. Just to prevent any accidental changes, for new sensors to take affect a server restart is required.

Note:The more sensors you create, the more monitoring overhead there will be on the server.
