Applicare Blackbox: Creating a Blackbox

The Blackbox enables you to analyze WebLogic server state even after a system failure (crash). When Applicare monitoring is ON for a particular server, Applicare anticipates a potential hung conditions and takes a “snapshot” of the WebLogic server state for analysis later in the event a failure actually occurs.  You can also create a Blackbox at any time to save the state of WebLogic server for later analysis.

 To create a Blackbox:

  1. Click on Applicare WL > Applicare Blackbox > Run Blackbox. The Applicare Blackbox Start Screen displays.

  Run Blackbox

  1. Select the server from the drop-down menu and click Create Blackbox; Applicare creates the Blackbox for the server selected. When Applicare successfully creates the Blackbox, a message appears asking you to click on the Display Blackbox node.
  1. Click on Applicare > Display Blackbox to display the Show Blackbox screen which shows the following:

·         Server: The name of the WebLogic server for which the Blackbox was created.

·         Session: The timestamp indicating when the server, along with Applicare was started, during which the snapshot was taken.

·         Time: The timestamp of the exact time the Blackbox was created.

·         The Server Structure Tree showing categories of the server runtime MBeans.

Show Blackbox

4.                  Double click on a category or click on the plus icon.  The MBean nodes, designated by the (Icon) icon, are displayed.
